Trip Advisor reviews about Queen's Court Hotel & Residence - Luxury Hotels Budapest
I stayed in Queen's Court for over a month (Silver suite), and it's nice but can be a bit dissappointing experience for those who expect standards of 5 star Western-European hotels. It's right on the edge of what you'd call a very nice location and a bit dodgy streets on the other side, especially in late evenings. Suites (at least the Silver ones) are nice and clean, but I wouldn't dare to call the equipment / furnishing latest modern design or technology. It's functional, staff are helpful and friendly, restaurant nothing special, but good for emergencies. If you are handed a brochure with the hotel information, unfortunately not everything is true - DVD, HI-FI, these all have been missed out. Kitchen only has a coffee maker (no tea). If you wish to cook your dinner, you'll only find a frying pan and a steamer. In summary, it's ok, but for almost the same money you can stay in Hilton WestEnd or Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal, (similar area) and these are more like 5 star hotels with 5 start service.
We have just returned from Budapest, stayed at the Queens Court. Small but pretty hotel, nice little spa, modern new apartments equipped with the latest technology. Location was the main reason of our choice and we did not regret, being at the center of this great city (although far from the river). The staff made the difference. Though very young, very professional, polite and smiley starting with the reception staff through maintenance to the restaurant staff, not to forget the young and talented restaurant manager. Great stay overall, we'll definitely return!
"Great apartment. New and spotless. Wonderful swimming pool. Very helpful staff. Classy. Highly recommended. Liked - Everything. This is a great place. Disliked - A little bit of street noise."
"When planning our trip to Budapest, I originally was going to book the Meridien. Then I read the previous reviews for the Queens Court and thought it sounded great, new 5 star hotel, all apartments / suites, something a bit different, should have stuck to my first choice. On first impressions the hotel looked very grand, big gates leading into a smart courtyard with a fountain, albeit on a dingy side street, with no doorman. The reception area was small with an unsmiling receptionist and a porter that promply disappeared when he saw us! We were given our key and pointed to a lift , no information given or help offered with our cases ( 5 star ? ) We found our room and that was exactly what it was...a room, not a suite and certainly not an apartment, it was the smallest room i've ever seen. So much so that I went to reception and asked if we had been put in a single room by mistake, as there was only one set of robe and slippers in the tiniest of wardrobes. On the web the picture shows a room with separate sitting area, we just about had room for two small chairs. It also stated all suites had dvd and cd players ( we had neither ) a full kitchenette ( we had a sink, coffee maker - with just coffee and a couple of white sugars, no milk or tea, microwave and mini bar...no kettle, no toaster )
I asked for the 2nd robe and slippers on two occassions, they never arrived. When the room was serviced the beds weren't remade, and coffee not replenished, really disappointed! The location wasn't much better, as it was a good 30 minute walk to downtown and the river, although there are plenty of shops and restaurants within a 10 minute walk. We did not eat in the hotel restaurant, although it looked very nice and had a good menu,we did not see one person eating in there the whole 3 days of our stay.In fact the hotel was quite deserted, I would say that it had only about 10% occupancy. We loved budapest and would definately visit again but would not choose this hotel, It is NOT " all suite " and NOT 5 star, more like 4 star. It takes more than nice decoration and furnishings to merit 5 stars, it's the service and the little extras that wow. I found this hotel bland and characterless. Liked: The new clean decoration and furnishings. Disliked: the small room, the location and the service."
"Beautiful hotel, very helpful staff. Loved the gym and pool! Recommnended."
"Budapest was our last stop during a two week trip through Europe and we were a little worn out at this point. The Queens Court was definetely the right choice. Check in was very easy and quick. The staff spoke excellent English. The room was spotless and absolutely adorable. The pool area was gorgeous. There is a whirpool and a sauna as well. The room comes with a robe and slippers, a little kitchen-ette which had an espresso maker, mugs and saucers, wine glasses (anything you need). The minibar was stocked with full bottles of wine, etc. The view from the room is of the peaceful and colorful courtyard. Each room has a little deck to walk out on. The water pressure was outstanding. I hate wimpy showers. The tub was really deep so I actually took a nice hot bath one night. The staff was very helpful for calling cabs, arranging airport pickup, guided city tours, giving directions, etc.
The Chess Restaurant just opened in the hotel. We ate dinner there our first night in town. It was awesome, one of the best meals I had while in Europe. I had the steak. We split a bottle of Portuguiser red (I doubt I have that spelled correctly). The service and the meal were A+. We had breakfast there the next morning as well. It was just okay. Kind of a limited buffet selection and they will ask if you want eggs, etc. If you order hot food you get charged for it. We just decided to go somewhere else the other mornings. My other potential negative besides the breakfast was the location if you are not a walker. It is about a ten to fifteen minute walk from the Octogon (bars, restaurants) and Adrassy Ave (shopping). But that is all that is within short walking distance and on the way to those locations the area is not so charming. The tram runs on the street perpendicular to the hotel (probably a 2 minute walk) and you can get to the river this way, but it is a little confusing and we got very very lost taking the tram and ended up in the middle of no where. Other than the location and breakfast (which weren't the worst things in the world) I loved our stay in Budapest. You really won't be disappointed with this hotel."
"I recently visited Budapest for business and was booked at the Queen's Court. This hotel was awesome! It had great service, good food, and was a very relaxing atmosphere. It's an easy walk to the center of town and the river from this location. The only caution I have is with their internet service. My coworker and I both got a nasty computer virus the first night we were there and it shut down our computers. We believe it came via the wireless connection. If I go to Budapest again I'll stay here. Liked - the room was great. Disliked ﾑ internet service."
"Beautiful hotel in a great area of Budapest. It is steps away from Franz Lizst Music Academy, near many trendy bars and restaurants. It is also close to the Terror House Museum. Anyways, the hotel is brand spanking new. Very luxurious, very clean. We were surprised we payed what we payed. Hotel is AIR CONDITIONED (you will appreciate this if you are travelling in the summer), considering that is not in the european standard. Restaurant is upscale, excellent service. Staff is very helpful, very attentive. Rooms have a mini kitchen with a mini fridge and a microwave. Coffee machine in the room. We felt we were staying at a hotel in the US! It also has a pool and a spa. This hotel will probably become more expensive as time goes on so stay there while it is affordable."
"For a business trip I have found this hotel as a new member of Summit Hotels & Resorts and I was surprised that it was brand new when I arrived. I was greeted by the fron desk staff in a very professional and polite manner. The room was nicely decorated, with a kitchen (China, Cuttlery, Dish-Washer, Microwave, Stove) basically all you need. The bathroom was very spacious and you could see that the hotel has invested a lot in quality. Flatscreen- TV and PC hook up with wires from the front desk - perfect for a business traveller. But since I have never been to Budapest before, I wanted to see the city and I found out that all the major sights are within walking distance. As I arrived fairly late the Restarant wass til open (until 22:30h) and offered a very creative and well tasting choice of delicious dishes. All staff speaks very well English and as mentioned before are very kind and polite. I can very much recommend this hotel as an insider hotel for guests who want to be treated nicely and who want to enjoy a brand new experience in Budapest. Oh, I almost forgot to mention the nice courtyard (very quiet) and the wellness, sauna and pool area with a great choice of machines and treadmills as well as a very decently arranged pool with a endless stream system for good excercise. I never saw a pool with a chandelier above before...that's Budapest :-)"

"This hotel is located centrally within walking distance of attractions and good restaurants. Rooms have broadband/wi fi internet at no extra cost which is great if you are on business or need to keep in touch. As it is an apartotel, the room service etc. are quite limited but the restaurant is good and there are shops nearby to stock up basic food to make for yourself. Highly recommended."
"I will definitely returning to Budapest and without a doubt would book my stay at this hotel. It is ideally located near Ockotgon and the yellow metro and central to the majority of the sights - which were all within a short walking distance if you dont want to take the metro. The staff at the hotel were friendly and welcoming. The facilities were excellent and more than adequate for either a short trip or longer stay. If you're going to Hungary - stay at this hotel....There is a restaurant within the hotel and although the menu is limited, the hotel is situated very close to a number of bars and restuarants."
"I stayed at the Queen's Court Hotel & Residence in July on business. I was impressed overall. The room was very spacious, I had my own little kitchen area, a nice big bedroom and a good bathroom. It was very comfortable, new and clean. The only downside was I requested room service for breakfast and left the slip of paper outside my door as the instructions stated. When I didnﾕt get my breakfast the following morning, I was quite disappointed but left the sheet outside, hoping I would receive my breakfast the following morning. However, I still didn't receive anything and had to spend a whole day with an empty stomach. When I told reception, they told me I should have called them with my order but that is not what it said on the room service menu! It put a real dampner on what was otherwise a nice stay. I can only put it down to this being a brand new hotel experiencing some teething problems."
